Estate of Lazaro Vela -

Currently one heirship has been completed. A survey is proceeding on the Lazaro Vela land grant, but is not yet complete. Once the survey is finished and the results have been received, a determination as to the economic viability of a recovery will be made.
If the potential recovery warrants it, an action for the determination and declaration of heirs will be immediately commenced.

Anyone who wishes to be included in the proceeding to determine and declare heirs must have on file with our office the following items:

1) Signed Fee Agreement

(signed by each family to be declared heir – primary and secondary heirs.*)

2) $250.00 Fee

(for each family member to be declared heir –primary and secondary heirs.*)

3) Proof Packet

(birth certificates, death certificates, photo identification, social security cards)

If an heir does not have these items on file with our office at the time the action to determine and declare heirs is filed, that heir will not be included in the action. The deadline to provide proof packets and signed fee agreements is April 1, 2006.

If the viability of a recovery will not support proceeding with the case, the proof packets and checks will be returned.

* Primary heirs are those who are in the oldest living generation. Secondary heirs are their children, and will inherit if the primary heir passes away during this proceeding.
