We begin the process by assisting family members in preparing documents that manage an individual’s property and ultimately direct the disposition of that person’s property upon death. At the same time we also review with our clients the need for a medical power of attorney, an advanced directive, and a durable power of attorney to complete their estate plan.
Following a loved one’s death, we can assist family members in seeing that appropriate steps are taken to ensure that the decedent’s wishes are carried out. This involves the probate of the decedent’s will, if one exists, or the opening of an administration if the decedent died without a will or a will cannot be located. After an estate has been opened, we then make sure that the appropriate family member manages the estate, and does so in compliance with the laws of the State of Texas.
In certain situations disputes arise among family members regarding the proper disposition of a decedent’s estate. We represent family members in resolving these disputes. As with many legal proceedings attempts are made to resolve these disputes before a trial is necessary. Once at trial, however, the attorneys at , will zealously represent our client’s position.
